How can I be smart with my money?
I have learned what it is that needs to be done to get out of the rat race.
I won't say I am tired of working for other people because my current employer is really great, but I will say that I am tired of paying off interest, and forever chasing the zero balance to my bills. I am tired of having to offer the excuse, "I can't afford it" when my friends ask me to go out and do something, and I am tired of just window shopping.
I want to be able to afford the things in life that enhance the quality of it.
I have spent a lot of money on education up to this point in life. I have done Accounting, Business Management and a few other courses so I can have a higher salary to essentially pay off bigger bills. It just doesn't make sense does it? It really seems that we all have the same bills regardless of our financial situation and the more money we make the more we spend right? It's like everyone has a severe case of self-sabotage.
I am going to share the common sense secret that I learned. It's actually a bit embarrassing it is so simple.
I learned the difference between assets and liabilities. Assets put money in your pockets, and liabilities take the money out of your pockets. I am seriously invested in becoming well acquainted with that "assets" character. He seems to be more Me-friendly. Now, there will always be liabilities because we need to eat, and there are other daily living expenses that must be purchased, but we often make purchases on a want basis rather than a need. When I go into a store now I honestly ask myself if what I want is an asset or a liability. If it is not helping me out then chances are it is hurting me, so why bother getting it right? Right.
I don't care what steps need to be taken (within moral boundaries) to remove the current debt that I have, but I can assure you it will diminish fast. I would not mind learning how to flip houses, or learning about stocks and bonds. It only makes
sense to learn how to do something that will do something for you in return. It is almost like employing money when you think about it. I would like money to work for me. Sounds good doesn't it? I will surely keep you posted on how things are going, and let you know if this is working for me. I have to go...I have some money to not spend.
